Binh Nguyen, Senior Evaluation Specialist, Asian Development Bank
Binh Nguyen received his PhD in economics from Georgetown University in 2004. From July 2004, he joined the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Manila. He has worked as an economist in the Economics and Research Department, as a microfinance specialist responsible for ADB’s microfinance program in the Southeast Asia Department, and as a senior evaluation specialist in the Independent Evaluation Department. Prior to ADB, he worked under several consulting assignments with the World Bank in Washington DC.
Binh’s main interests are in development effectiveness and poverty reduction, with a special attention to microfinance and its welfare impact on the poor. He has processed and administered several SME and microfinance loans and grants that ADB provided to its member countries in the region. With ADB, he has 15 publications including an evaluation of ADB’s microfinance strategy, a book on rural and microfinance in the Lower Mekong Region, and a handbook on impact evaluation, among many evaluation reports.
