Mariella Greco, Country Director, Plan International Inc. – Paraguay
MARIELLA GRECO, Canadian, has been working for with Plan International since 1996 in Canada, Egypt, China, Nicaragua, Peru and Paraguay (since 2014) as Country Director and Legal Representative.
As Country Director she is responsible for integrated country programs covering 250-500 communities, with interventions in child rights and protection; community development; household economic security; financial education and inclusion; quality education; early childhood development; infant and maternal health; sexual and reproductive rights; youth governance; gender equality; domestic, gender based and youth violence; and emergency preparedness and response.
Before Plan, Mariella worked for 10 years in banking. She put herself through University working as a bank teller and loans clerk. After graduation she held management positions in retail banking; and trading in the interbank foreign currency spot and overnight markets in the Royal Bank of Canada headquarters.
She holds an a Master in International Relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy (Tufts) and a certificate in Microfinance Studies from the Boulder Microfinance Institute (Turin, Italy). In addition to her native English, she is fluent in Spanish, and has studied 5 other languages to different degrees of proficiency.
She is currently serving on the global Leadership Council of the Microcredit Summit Campaign.
