Mohammad Abdul Awal, Executive Director(CEO), Credit and Development Forum
Mr. Md. Abdul Awal completed his studies in Agricultural Economics from Bangladesh Agricultural University and started his career as a Banker.He innovated two products there: MFIs-Bank Business partnership and Credit for Urban-women micro-entrepreneurship(CUMED). Mr. Awal stepped down from bank in 2003 and joined Credit and Development Forum(CDF). Mr. Awal very successfully completed different overseas post-graduation trainings at University of Bradford (UK), Kenya School of Monetary Studies(Nairobi,Kenya), Naropa Univ.(Colorado, USA), Asian Institute of Management(Manila) and Harvard Business School at Harvard Univ,USA.
He participated in many overseas summits/conferences on microcredits including Microcredit Summits, Convergences 2015, Asia Microfinance Forum, Global Network Summits,etc. Md. Abdul Awal chaired/spoke in many overseas microcredit events. He is a member on BWTP ExCom, now based in Brisbane, Australia & founding Board member on South Asian Microenterprise Network(SAMN).He is now leading/coordinating the initiative to introduce credit bureau for Microfinance and promoting financial inclusion among CDF’s 750 member MFIs. Currently, CDF has undertaken a project on Transformation of MFIs into Formal Banking System.Mr. Awal has been very successful in promoting rapport with the fellow networks-national, regional and international networks of the microfinance around the world.
