Parul Khanna, Director, microPension Foundation
Parul Khanna heads the non-profit microPension Foundation (mPF), an India-based pension and social security inclusion R&D hub established through an inception grant from Visa Inc. mPF develops, field-tests and helps mainstream innovative and scalable technology-led solutions that provide secure, convenient and affordable access to an integrated pension, insurance and micro-payment solution by low income, unbanked individuals in India and other developing countries. mPF also provides governments, regulators, aid agencies, MFIs and NGOs with specialized technical assistance to design and implement inclusive pension and social security solutions targeting the unbanked poor. At mPF, Parul specifically drives projects and research focused on innovative financial literacy models and technology driven outreach platforms. She is also responsible for strategic partnerships involving CSR and for fostering larger public participation in the social security inclusion process. Towards this end, Parul conceptualized and implemented “Gift-a-Pension”, the first global P2P e-social security platform (www.giftapension.com) for inclusion of certain categories of informal workers including domestic help (maids, drivers, guards, cooks) through the Internet.
