Syeda Khaleda, Program Specialist (Consultant), Department of Disaster Management, Government of Bangladesh
Dr. Syeda Khaleda is a Program Specialist in SNSP (Safety Net Systems for the Poorest) Project, a World Bank project at the Department of Disaster Management, Government of Bangladesh to support in improving the implementation of the Government’s safety net programs to reach the poorest people of the country. She started her career in development at Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) that implements sustainable development programs including microfinance and institutional/capacity development support for the poor people in Bangladesh. After her fourteen-year career there, she accepted her present position as an expert in 2015.
Dr. Khaleda was awarded JSPS (Japan Society for Promotion of Sciences) Fellowship and awarded Ph.D from the University of Tsukuba, Japan. She had been a Research Fellow at Graduate School of Life and Environmental Sciences, University of Tsukuba, Japan. She contributed in a number of international peer-reviewed journals as reviewer and author. She is collaborating a book titled Geospatial Analysis of Rapidly Growing Metropolises in Asia and Africa with her ex-colleagues in University of Tsukuba, Japan and authored a chapter on Dhaka Metropolitan Area. She attended a number of international conferences/exposure visit programs to share her research/experience in other countries, such as in Japan, Vietnam, Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia.
