Financial inclusion can play an important role in creating income generating opportunities and providing a support system that can reduce risk, but how can microfinance build resilience during disasters and times of crises? This session will explore how financial products and services can help the most disadvantaged and vulnerable segments during political instability and throughout the turmoil that often ensues natural disasters. We will discuss best practices for working with vulnerable populations such as refugees, and highlight services and tools that can help rebuild their livelihoods, as well as strategies for empowering these groups and the role regulators can play in supporting these activities during turbulent times.
