Visa Information

Participants are strongly advised to make sure they fulfill all legal requirements to enter Abu Dhabi. Besides a valid passport, an entry visa may also be required. Please visit the official website of the Abu Dhabi Government to find out whether you need a visa to enter Abu Dhabi, depending on your citizenship, country of long-term residence, and the duration and reasons for your stay.

Summit participants traveling via Etihad Airways or Emirates Airways are highly encouraged to apply for visas online through the airlines themselves immediately.

Participants traveling via Emirates Airways with the following country of residence or nationality may NOT currently apply for a visa online. They may still apply at an offline visa processing centre.

  • Country of Residence: Cuba, Ethiopia, Israel, Iraq, Iran, Kosovo, Micronesia, Nauru, Nepal, North Korea, Palestine, Somalia, Sudan & South Sudan, Syria, and Tuvalu
  • Nationality: Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Israel, Mali, Nepal, Nigeria, Palestine, Somalia, South Sudan, Uganda

To apply for a visa online, you will need:

  • A copy of your passport (must be valid for at least six months)
  • A passport photograph
  • A confirmed roundtrip ticket
  • Your application form signed and completed
  • Pay visa fee upon application

*Visa processing time is approximately three to four working days.

Hotels can also facilitate your visa procurement process, so you should request help with the visa procurement in your email when making the hotel reservation. It is highly recommended to start the process immediately.

NOTE: You WILL need a valid passport, but you do not need to apply for a United Arab Emirates visa if the following apply:

  • If you are a citizen of one of the following countries, you will be issued a free-of-charge visit visa upon entry:
    Australia, Austria, Andorra, Belgium, Brunei, Canada, Denmark, France, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Republic of Korea, San Marino, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, United States of America, United Kingdom and Vatican.
  • If you are a citizen of the GCC (Gulf Countries):
    Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and UAE. You are NOT required to obtain a visa and can enter the country at port by presenting a passport or ID card issued by any GCC nation.

Invitation letters to assist in visa formalities can be sent upon request in order to help you in obtaining the visa. It must be understood that such letters do not guarantee a visa being issued. The attestation letter to assist in visa formalities will only be sent on request and only to participants who have paid their registration fees in full.

The Microcredit Summit Campaign cannot assist in your visa application beyond providing an official invitation letter. Please contact the United Arab Emirates Embassy or Consulate in your region for more information.
